About Us

Pugh Heating was established in 1939 by James Franklin Pugh. He was the oldest of three boys and two girls. In 1925 he decided to leave Tennessee and get into the automotive business and headed to Detroit. However, he ran out of money in Toledo and got his first job here picking strawberries. Later he went to work at the Baker Furnace Company. He took an electrical engineering course at the University of Toledo and built the first spot welder for the Baker Company. George Pugh followed in his father’s footsteps in the early sixties. His father insisted he learn the industry from the bottom up. George was President for twenty three years, passing the reins over to Mark Nowak in 1994. The common denominator between the three is their commitment to customer service, craftsmanship, education, quality suppliers and its employees. Less than one percent of businesses started in 1939 are still in business.
